Duo Cari Cari consists of drummer, didgeridoo player and singer Stephanie Widmer, known as Louise Yamamoto, and guitarist and singer Alexander Köck. Their work acts like a magnet to the listener; thanks to Tarantino-soundtrack aesthetics and perfectly coordinated live performances, they won the hearts of the audience, journalists and promoters. 2024's singles, "Farfalla/Schmetterling", offer a taste of the upcoming new album.
In 2014, they released the EP “Amerippindunkler”, which they followed up with their debut album “ANAANA” four years later. On their recordings, they overcome the boundaries between genres and use modern production methods. They implement fresh ideas with 100% commitment and are not afraid to experiment.
The creativity of the Cari Cari duo knows no bounds. Alex summed it up simply for the magazine Die Burgenländerin: “It just comes naturally; the two of us create our world.”
Their approach immediately started drawing attention, and the list of mentions in prestigious media, as well as invitations to major festivals, quickly grew. They have successfully performed at renowned music festivals such as Melt! (Germany), The Great Escape (Great Britain), Eurosonic Noorderslag (Netherlands), Sziget Festival (Hungary) or Primavera Sound Barcelona (Spain). According to Rolling Stone music magazine, they were the biggest discovery at Primavera Sound 2018.
Even Hollywood creators liked their music. The song “White Line Fever” appeared in the series Shameless, while the single “No War” was heard in the series The Magicians. Cari Cari’s stated goal is to hear her music in a Quentin Tarantino film.
